Q & A:

COL: How old are you and where are you from?

SLING: I'm 41,from Oslo

COL: What do you do?

SLING: I do graffiti, acrylic painting and illustration. And I like to write poems.

COL: How long have you been doing it?

SLING: Three years with graffiti, some painting through the years. Always drawing.

COL: What inspired you to pursue a career in art?

SLING:  I had no choice.. I just needed to sum up the courage to go against the norms of society.

COL: Do you remember your first work of art?

SLING: My mothers porcelain painting of magnolia flowers on a plate with a gold brim. I was obsessed with sparkeling things, especially mica.

COL: If you could have any piece of art in history, what would you choose?

SLING: Whithout any doubt, The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch.

A brilliant triptych oil painting from the 15th century. It blows my mind.

COL: What is your relationship with fashion?

SLING: Fashion to me is cut, colors, lines and textures. An expression of self.

COL: What does the word “collective” mean to you as an artist?

SLING: Honestly, the word collective makes me think about a group of people hanging out in an abandoned building, probably in Germany. Making weird stuff.

COL: What is the best and worst thing about being an artist?

SLING: The best and the worst thing about being an artist is stepping in to the arena.. being terrified, anxious, vulnerable and full of doubt, and yet at the same time, the feeling of intense freedom, love and gratitude that makes everything worth it. I love my life.

COL: Who do you admire?

SLING: I admire people who dare to be seen. I admire authenticity.

COL: What can we expect to see at this year’s festival?

SLING: You can expect to see neon colors.

COL: Who are you excited to see?

SLING: I'm excited to see everything.

COL: How important is the ability to expose your art to you and your creative field?

SLING: Without exposure, the joy of sharing gets lost. For me art is about connecting.
