EXHIBITION: Maxime Plescia-Büchi & Bjørn Gunnar Staal / Void “Cathedral of Ego”

On December 10, Collective Oslo exhibited an art installation by the internationally renowned tattoo artist and founder of Sang Bleu Maxime Plescia-Büchi and the founder of the Oslo based computational design studio VOID, Bjørn Gunnar Staal. The artwork represents the dialogue between Plescia-Büchi and Staal in the talk they did earlier for Collective Oslo.

The theme of the installation revolves around the theory that the contemporary, western culture have switched the religious idea of transcending human ego structures with technology. This promotes personal identity as the highest ideal. The artwork is based on a dialogue between two distinct visual art forms: Installation art and tattoo art. It is materialized and is in constant change through a cathedralic light installation based on the transctription of the dialogue between the artists.

The result was a magical evening in Ekebergparken, Oslo where people were could see the mesmerizing lights, in Plescia-Büchi’s geometrical style, moving in the dark winter forest.

We are proud to present the art project “Cathedral of Ego”:
