Anja Carr's gender fluid animal-characters transform toy-figures in homemade set designs, exploring the abject through bodily materials, photography, performance in handmade costumes, video, installation and sculpture. Maura Egan described her work in Travel + Leisure Magazine (NYC): «Carr’s performance art, part My Little Pony, part Paul McCarthy, explores adolescence and sexuality.»

Recent group exhibitions include “When Will I Be Little Again?” at CRICOTEKA Tadeusz Kantor Museum (Kraków, PL) and she has performed at NOoSPHERE (NYC), Miami Performance International Festival '15 (Miami, FL), Le Générateur (Paris, FR), W139 (Amsterdam, NL) among other places.

There are around 30 solo exhibitions on her CV – in addition she has founded and run PINK CUBE gallery in Oslo for five years, with a majority of female exhibitors. Her colorful work has been featured on TV-programs at Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) and in magazines such as D2 (NO), Kunstkritikk (NO), iD (UK), Billedkunst (NO), Elephant (UK), KUNSTforum (NO), KUNST (NO), Digital America (USA), Artlover (SE), La Monda (ES), WeHeart (UK), Frame (UK), Dimanche Rouge (FR), Inferno (FR), ArtSlant (USA), Måg (NO/UK), Frieze (UK) and Dazed & Confused (UK).
